Become a Yoga 4 Classrooms™ Instructor

Yoga 4 Classrooms™ Instructors are qualified individuals (typically yoga
teachers, school counselors, pediatric therapists, health and other
educators), specially trained to share the Yoga 4 Classrooms program in
the schools in their own communities.
Eligibility is not guaranteed. Completion of an 200 hr. adult yoga
certification is preferred, though there are exceptions based on other
relevant experience including, but not limited to, being or having been a
classroom teacher, physical education teacher, OT, PT, school counselor or pediatric clinician with a solid understanding and practice
of yoga and mindfulness.
Please note there are two Y4C Instructor Training Track Options
described below. Please read each carefully to determine the best fit

1) Licensee Track: Become a Licensed Yoga 4 Classrooms Instructor
The Licensee Track is best suited to Yoga teachers or other qualified individuals who are not
a member of a school staff (e.g., if you work in a school full-time,
you will not be able to implement all aspects of the program), and wish
to expand their professional offerings. Licensees have the ability to
schedule and facilitate Y4C teacher workshops open to the public. They also help schools to become Y4C Schools via the staff development workshop and classroom residency.
Benefits of becoming a Licensed Y4C Instructor:
- Ability to assist schools in becoming Y4C™ Schools via planning and facilitating the Staff Development Workshop and 10-week classroom residency utilizing the provided curriculum and materials.
- Ability to choose an appropriate host location, schedule and facilitate Y4C™ Teacher Workshops open to the public.
- Name, photo, bio, and location are featured in the Y4C Instructor Directory.
- Teacher Workshops scheduled by licensee will be featured and marketed on the website, as well as via the Y4C facebook and twitter pages, blog and e-newsletter.
- Access to Y4C™ marketing materials, forms and other documents and files that support the program.
- Access to proprietary 'how to
find funding' and grant proposal template documents to assist interested
schools in obtaining funding for the program.
- Access to instructional videos showing a live demonstrations of the residency and training curriculums to serve as review in preparing for your own presentations. (availability in 2012)
- Membership in the Y4C™ Instructor Community with access to updates, new materials, latest research, and continuing education opportunities.
- Reseller pricing on bulk orders of Y4C™ Teacher's Guides needed for workshops.
- Reseller pricing on bulk orders of Y4C™ Card Decks to be presented and sold at Y4C workshops and at schools.
- Access to Y4C™ Media Kits to help you effectively market the program to schools, funding sources, local TV and other media.
- Benefits of national advertising, PR and growing program recognition.
- Ongoing support from the Yoga 4 Classrooms™ main office.
Steps to Becoming a Licensed Y4C™ Instructor:

1) Attend the Basic ChildLight Yoga Teacher Training (the foundational training) and complete, or be actively working toward, certification.
2) Submit a brief email or call 603-781-3323 to discuss your interest in becoming a Licensed Y4C Instructor. Please provide a brief overview of your relevant experience and intentions. Eligibility is not guaranteed. Completion of a 200 hr. adult yoga certification is preferred, though there are exceptions based on other relevant experience including, but not limited to, being a classroom teacher, physical education teacher, OT, PT, or school guidance counselor with a solid understanding and practice of yoga and mindfulness.
3) Attend a one-day Y4C Teacher Workshop prior to attending the Instructor Training.
4) Complete the Licensed Yoga 4 Classrooms™ Instructor Training.
Licensed Instructor training
is 3 days (approx. 27 contact hours) and includes a comprehensive overview of the
background and development of the program, review of supporting
research, participation in a public Y4C™ teacher workshop, review of the workshop curriculum, and thorough
review of the 10-week classroom residency curriculum. Business
practices, marketing, and instruction and materials needed for
bringing the program to the schools in your area and beyond will be
covered, as well as how best to provide schools with the means to
finding funding for the program. Training will culminate with
practice
teaching and casual testing and evaluation.
This training is approved for CEUs
from the University of Southern Maine (USM), PDPs from your
credentialing organization (with approval), and Continuing Education Training Hours (CE's)
through Yoga Alliance.
Tuition: $695
Includes the Licensed Instructor Training, Y4C Teacher's Guide, Licensed Instructor Materials, Workshop and Residency Curriculum, Y4C Card Deck, and the first year license fee of $250
6) Licensed Instructors are strongly encouraged to assist with or
co-facilitate at least one Teacher Workshop and/or classroom residency.
Specific requirements will vary based on experience and ability to
ensure all instructors have the tools and confidence needed to share the
program successfully.

2) General Educator Track: Bring Yoga 4 Classrooms to Your Own School
The General Educator Track is best suited to school counselors, health educators or similar who work in a particular school. Those who complete the educator track are qualified to share the Y4C professional development workshop and classroom residency (works beautifully as guidance curriculum) within their own school with their own staff and students.Benefits of becoming a General Y4C Instructor:
- Ability to assist your school in becoming a Y4C™ School via planning and facilitating the Staff / Professional Development Workshop for your own school staff, and 10-week classroom residency with your own students, utilizing the provided curriculum and materials. (Please note: This opportunity does not qualify you to share Y4C with other schools or to offer workshops to the public. See Licensee opportunity above.)
- Serving as the Y4C expert on staff
at your school, you will be able to provide continuing education to
staff and students, assist with questions, involve families, and help to
make the program sustainable for the long-term.
- Membership in the Y4C™ Instructor Community with access to updates, new materials, latest research, and continuing education opportunities.
Steps to Becoming a General Y4C™ Instructor:

1) Attend a one-day Y4C Teacher Workshop prior to attending the Instructor Training.
2) Complete the General Yoga 4 Classrooms™ Instructor Training.
General Track Instructor training is approximately 2 days (17 contact hours) and
includes a comprehensive overview of the
background and development of the program, review of supporting
research, participation in a public Y4C™ teacher workshop, review of the workshop curriculum,
and thorough
review of the 10-week classroom residency curriculum. Training will culminate with
practice
teaching and casual testing and evaluation.
This training is approved for CEUs
